Bowling for Columbine
                                                                            By: Coralie MacDonald

In the Bowling for Columbine movie Moore tells about how people can get guns much more easily then they should. It shows how guns are becoming more and more common in everyday life, not just for hunting or protection but to actually kill someone else.
Teenagers for example can get a guns and ammo  more easily then ever before. The killing at Columbine High School  shows this so clearly. Two teenagers go bowling then go to school with their guns and end up killing 13 people in the school. The guns they used were bought legally and so was the ammo that they bought at a local K-Mart. This  is a great example of how people even teenagers can get their hands on guns and ammo just by going to the local store.
People believe that it is their right to own a lot of guns to “protect themselves”  but what they aren’t realizing is that people are not just using them for protection. The gun conference explains that people do think it is their right to own a gun. The man at the confrence feels very strongly that he should be alowwed to have as many guns as he wants and should not feeel bad or forced not to own them. He goes to Denver ten days after the Columbine killings and lifts up his gun and says “from my cold dead hands”. The boys that did the Columbine killings died with their guns in their hand but that did not stop them from killing 13 people before they did.
Even young kids can get a hold of a gun and use it on someone else. In a little town in the states a six year old boy in first grade brought a gun to school and shot another first grader. The other first grader was a six year old girl. He got the gun from his uncles house were he was currently stay at and went to school and shot her. It was the youngest school shooting in the Untied States.
In this video Moore goes all over to talk to people about guns and gun control. Some people don’t believe that there should be more gun control and some think there should be less. I think there should be more. With all the killing in the USA they should have more gun control so things like the Columbine killings and the first grader killing another first grader does not happen.

Polluted Air and Diabetes: A Link

Studies at Children's Hospital in Boston show that there is a strong link between adult diabetes and air pollution. A new epidemiological study shows that polluted air increases insulin resistance. The reseachers focused on matter found in haze, smoke, motor vehicle exhaust, etc. They found out that from this matter there was a 1% increase in diabetes rates. Diabetes rates have went up in the U.S.A, and estimated 23.5 million Americans have diabetes in 2007 alone. It has nearly tripled in people below 44 to 1.5%. 10 % of Americans from ages 45-64  have diabetes.
