Polluted Air and Diabetes: A Link

Studies at Children's Hospital in Boston show that there is a strong link between adult diabetes and air pollution. A new epidemiological study shows that polluted air increases insulin resistance. The reseachers focused on matter found in haze,smoke,motor vehicle exhaust,etc. They found out that from this matter there was a 1% increase in diabetes rates. Diabetes rates have went up in the U.S.A, and estimated 23.5 million Americans have diabetes in 2007 alone. It has nearly tripled in people below 44 to 1.5%. 10 % of Americans from ages 45-64  have diabetes.
