Nuclear Waste
Texas and Vermont made an alliance sixteen years ago so that Vermont can use twenty percent of the space at any low-level nuclear waste dump in Texas. Texas has the right to not allow other states to use it's waste dump facilities but one of their facilities on the New Mexico border wants to allow 36 other states to be able to use them. If Texas lets all those other states empty their waste their they might not have enough room for future generations to use it. So one man states that who ever gets there first gets to use the facilities in Texas.

Arctic Drilling
People in the Americain government want to start drilling in the arctic for more natural gas, coal, and renewable resources. People in other countries such as China don't want people in the US to start the drilling because of how it will affect the rest of the world. Our world is already damaged enough and people from outside the US feel that countries that are already greatly established are ruinning our world for just their benifit.
Fires in Alaska
In Alaska there are more and more intense fires caused by an increasing amount of carbon dioxide and longer summer months. The fires in Alaska have already released 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide, the same amount of an entire years worth of emmisions from US airlines. These fires are slowly melting the arctic and need to be stopped.

Are buildings Good or Bad for Our Enviroment?
Buildings in America and Europe account to 40% of energy in the whole world. So because of this building codes must be changed. Building experts have recomendations that meet code and are 30% more energy-efficient. Eventually countries all over the world hope to be at nearly zero percent, but some states in the U.S.A are a bit resistant, hopfully they will come around.
Earth Day
Earth day first started on April 22,1970, and since then it has spread over 180 different countires. It's 40th anniversary was in April 2010 and it was a major day for eco-friendly companies. Many companies, and school have particapatted on earth day every year and should continue to do so for years to come.
Glaciers Melt
In Greenland and in the Antarctica the glaciers are melting rapidly. Scientists took a measurement of the tempature near the bottom of a sea surrounded by glaciers and it was only 40 degrees, warm enough to warm ice. With all the ice melting the sea level will most likely rise three feet- six feet by 2100.

"Why Do Species Go Extinct?"
Species go extinct because people are taking over their territory and hunting them. Animals in Hawaii are going extinct so fast that there are 12 different kinds of bird that are slowly dying away. This is not just happening in Hawaii but all over the world. Dr. Pimm has a website to try to help save animals all over the world it's called SavingSpeices.org.

Bowling for Columbine
By: Coralie MacDonald
In the Bowling for Columbine movie Moore tells about how people can get guns much more easily then they should. It shows how guns are becoming more and more common in everyday life, not just for hunting or protection but to actually kill someone else.
Teenagers for example can get a guns and ammo more easily then ever before. The killing at Columbine High School shows this so clearly. Two teenagers go bowling then go to school with their guns and end up killing 13 people in the school. The guns they used were bought legally and so was the ammo that they bought at a local K-Mart. This is a great example of how people even teenagers can get their hands on guns and ammo just by going to the local store.
People believe that it is their right to own a lot of guns to “protect themselves” but what they aren’t realizing is that people are not just using them for protection. The gun conference explains that people do think it is their right to own a gun. The man at the confrence feels very strongly that he should be alowwed to have as many guns as he wants and should not feeel bad or forced not to own them. He goes to Denver ten days after the Columbine killings and lifts up his gun and says “from my cold dead hands”. The boys that did the Columbine killings died with their guns in their hand but that did not stop them from killing 13 people before they did.
Even young kids can get a hold of a gun and use it on someone else. In a little town in the states a six year old boy in first grade brought a gun to school and shot another first grader. The other first grader was a six year old girl. He got the gun from his uncles house were he was currently stay at and went to school and shot her. It was the youngest school shooting in the Untied States.
In this video Moore goes all over to talk to people about guns and gun control. Some people don’t believe that there should be more gun control and some think there should be less. I think there should be more. With all the killing in the USA they should have more gun control so things like the Columbine killings and the first grader killing another first grader does not happen.

Polluted Air and Diabetes: A Link
Studies at Children's Hospital in Boston show that there is a strong link between adult diabetes and air pollution. A new epidemiological study shows that polluted air increases insulin resistance. The reseachers focused on matter found in haze, smoke, motor vehicle exhaust, etc. They found out that from this matter there was a 1% increase in diabetes rates. Diabetes rates have went up in the U.S.A, and estimated 23.5 million Americans have diabetes in 2007 alone. It has nearly tripled in people below 44 to 1.5%. 10 % of Americans from ages 45-64 have diabetes.

Relationships
Disney and McDonalds go together like Sprite and MTV. They are both co-dependent on each other. When Disney comes out with a new movie McDonalds comes out with a figure to go with it for kids. In some McDonald's resturants they have a mini "Disney Land" for kids to play in and dream of bigger and better things such as going to Disney Land. Disney and McDonalds came up together and became known world wide.

Example 2: Brand name clothing like nike shoes could show what a person thinks is cool.
